I work on a regular bases with Forum for the Future and the fieldwork teams from the School of System Change basecamp programs to analyse complex sustainability challenges and create a graphic solution that helps understand the issue. This can be use as a tool for future research and learning. These processes require working closely with the team to select an appropriate format for the output (such as a systems map, user journey, infographic or storyboard), produce a draft and refine collaboratively with the team to reach a final output.
Systemic challenges in Academic Research.
The Sustainable Solutions Lab, from the University of Massachusetts Boston, investigates how, for centuries, academic research has been fuelled by the paradigms of white supremacy and racialised capitalism. This impacted how academic research grew over time structurally - prioritising publication, accolades, competition and field domination.
I created an illustration and diagram with two scenarios. First: how structural racism and anti-blackness in academic research persists today and how fuelled by white supremacy & racialised capitalism, academic research has grown to hold significant power, influence and status, and how the fear of losing that power has resulted in patterns of self-preservation behaviour. Second: A new way to educate and train students with a holistic approach that connects activism and academia and prioritises humility and play/experimentation.

Systems practice learning canvas.
Bosch Alumni Network connects network members with common interests but different backgrounds, to foster cross-sectoral exchange and international collaborations.
I created a practical tool, a learning canvas, based on the analogy of space exploration. An A3 template to fill in every time you want to question something, which helps you to dig deeper into the layers of reflection while following the orbital guides of the planets. A journey from your core assumptions to your learnings.

Power Shift Network
Power Shift Network mobilises the collective power of young people to mitigate climate change and create a just, clean energy future and resilient, thriving communities for all. This fieldwork team joined the School with the intention of engaging people of colour and frontline youth in the climate movement.
Creating an illustrated report that analyses the four possible future scenarios they researched and studied, illustrates the challenges and informs of where we are now.

Regenerative Agriculture
The Regenerative Agriculture fieldwork team proposed a way to scale up regenerative systems and transform the current industrial farming.
The idea was to create an informative poster that showcased the four case studies they had worked on, to illustrate the complexity of the current systems, divided between opportunities and enablers and lacking the ability to interact together.

Sky Ocean Rescue
More than eight million tonnes of plastic is thrown away each year and washed out to sea. It takes centuries to break down. It's eaten by marine creatures. And it's in our food chain.
Supported by the global initiative Sky Ocean Rescue, this fieldwork team wanted to create an informative brochure to better understand the issues of ocean health and to where Sky can use their voice to make a difference.

School of System Change
The School of System Change gets people to work together, to pool skills and resources on a global scale, and to evolve regenerative solutions that work for people, and for the living systems we rely on. The world faces complex challenges because our core systems are not working towards sustainable goals. Shifting these systems is a task beyond any one business, government, NGO or individual.
I’ve worked with the School of System Change helping them develop their brand and design external and internal publications to support their communications and courses.
