Co-founder and designer of We Are Europe, an art based political campaign to engage remain young voters in the UK referendum on June 23rd. We didn't get the result we wanted but it ended up being the third biggest IN campaign group of the referendum.

We Are Europe was formed when four friends – Bethan Harris, Harriet Kingaby, Rosie Warin and myself met with three seasoned campaigners – Caroline Lucas MP, Jonathon Porritt and Tom Burke.

Whilst other campaigns also targeted youth turnout, we believe our content had an impact on registration, postal voting and turnout on polling day. The campaign’s main hashtag, #INFOR, was adopted by other Remain campaigns, including Scientists for EU. Our Kiss of Death mural was one of the defining early images of the referendum debate, reaching 600 million people across the world. Our content inspired others to create their own message, from online fan-art to original images from Damien Hirst and Tracey Emin.

Our content was produced on a shoestring and punched significantly above its weight. Featured on six continents, with videos viewed over 152,000 times; and our ‘Believe’ film was viewed over half a million times. Our open-source approach to campaigning attracted a network of over 200 creatives, from mainstream creative agencies to street artists.

Finally, our campaign was successful enough for The Sun to consider us a legitimate target for its anger.
